Hello, everyone
I write this on my birthday, so I’m reviewing and rewriting my Rule of Life.
About Me
I’m a husband, father, and pastor living in the Canadian Rockies. I’m bilingual and bi-cultural. I write this newsletter in my second language. French is my mother tongue.
Three Points…
1. Point number 1 is to draw attention each week to beauty, goodness, and truth, in the spirit of Philippians 4:8. So let me draw attention to Substacker
and the lovely works of art she “Notes” every day, such as this…2. Point 2 is usually about things I’m reading/watching/enjoying. And I have certainly been enjoying
’s Notes and Newsletter, Everything Is Amazing. Indeed it is. How about cities floating in the sky? Or something slightly more terrifying? Mike’s posts are unfailingly interesting and very well written..
3. I spotted this on my bicycle ride by the river today. Encouraging. I wonder who made it and placed it there. And why? What is their motivation? What’s their story? What message does it speak to you?
And Two Haikus! (Psalm 69)
Every week I write a haiku or a tanka based on a Psalm. I’m haikuing through the Psalms in order, and I’m up Psalm 69. These are based on Myles Coverdale’s translation, found in the 1662 version of the Book of Common Prayer.
Psalm 69 - A double haiku
The psalmist, given
vinegar to quench his thirst,
cries out for vengeance.
The Saviour, given
vinegar to quench His thirst,
cries out for pardon.
As I write this I’m 🎧 ☕…
Drinking coffee and listening to Tom Odell.
Happy Birthday. I’m so happy to hear you are feeling better after your heart attack! Thank you so much for the shout out for Beyond Bloomsbury. I’m pleased that you’re enjoying my ‘Notes’ posts. I love putting them together. Take care, Victoria 🧡
